Our Philosophy

Reisender

On our journeys through the Sahara we are guests of the nomads living in the desert. It is our concern to treat their environment and traditions respectfully.

  • With suitable clothing for the desert trip you do something good for your health and at the same time you respect the habits and customs of the nomads. Wear long, light and airy clothes, which will protect you from the heat and the solar irradiation.
  • Our meals are prepared for the most part from fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs and meat. We consider exclusively the souk (market) and local shops of M’hamid where we buy all we need.
  • All waste produced in the desert gets re-utilised or recycled. Waste from fruits or vegetables are fed to the
dromedaries. Any other, incombustible waist will be transported back out of the desert. Among other things we use recyclable waste bags.
  • The respectful and careful handling of water is essential in the desert. The water carried by the dromedaries is used for drinking, cooking, washing the dishes and hands. We use 100% biodegradable detergent.
  • The same respect applies also to our animals who are carrying all our luggage. They get loaded carefully and taken care of in a loving way. We always take additional food for them in case they cannot find enough on their own.
  • The mindfulness towards our local staff members is of particular importance to us. They are included in decision making and are always welcome at the evening bonfire. For their work they receive an abundant salary.
